After the popularity of the climbing courses over the past few years, Miss McCourt and Miss McWalter recently took a group of interested S1-S3 pupils to the new Three Wise Monkeys climbing centre in Fassifern Road, which opened earlier this month. Pupils who went along got an introduction to the centre from the staff, were taken through safety and kit and then given instruction on how to use the walls and bouldering room.
This was a brilliant opportunity for any S1 pupils and those who hadn’t had a chance to sign up to any courses before to get some climbing experience. Along with more experienced climbers who did amazingly well after being away from climbing for over a year, we also had first-time beginners who excelled.
Eilidh Galloway (1RS) said, “I wanted to try something new and different so I tried the climbing session at Three Wise Monkeys. I was so excited and had an amazing experience. My favourite part was when I just got to lean back on the rope without a care in the world and slowly fly back down to the bottom!”
Look out for future climbing sessions advertised on posters or in the morning announcements.
