Day 2 of the Big Pedal was a bit wild, but we still managed to see increased numbers of cyclists ditching the car or bus and riding their bikes to school. On the first day we had 17 pupils and 10 teachers on bikes. Day 2, 21st March, saw an increase of 5 pupils to bring the number up to 22, and 10 teachers again – some different names though.
A huge shout out must go out to go to S3 pupil, Alasdair Poll, who cycled all the way from Roy Bridge, in shorts, in the sleet and snow – that’s commitment!
Each day everyone who cycles goes into a prize draw to win some cycle related prizes:
Monday’s Winners were: Liam Yard, Scott Bissett and Mr Macnab.
Tuesday’s Winners were: Christian Martin, Toms Prusis and Findlay Dempster.
At the end of the Big Pedal, there will be another prize draw for a Specialized bike, kindly donated by Nevis Cycles, two Fitbits and some Cateye cycling lights. The more times you cycle, the higher your chance of winning!
A wee word of warning for Wednesday’s cycle: given today’s weather and cold temperatures, please be wary of black ice on the roads. We don’t want to put you off, just to let you know to take care.
Massive WELL DONE to everyone so far – let’s keep increasing those numbers. If we get to 15% of the school cycling we will go into the National Prize draw. See you tomorrow!
